Rainy Day Games

When you are a parent you don’t get days off or sick days, not even on a gloomy rainy day when all you want to do is creep back under the blanket again and watch old movies with a hot chocolate. But nope!! Life goes on….

With the current weather in Sri Lanka (Non –Stop rain for 3 days) and if your kids are anything like ours you are without a doubt looking for things to do inside the house. Since none of us really want them to sit around watching TV or pay video games all day.. we came up with a few ideas to get you by.

Puzzles with Cereal Boxes

If you have a colorful Cereal box around the house it is a great inexpensive way to make a puzzle tailored to your child’s age and ability.

Simply get an empty cereal box and a pair of scissors.

Cut out the front panel of the box into pieces according to the child ability, Mix them up and Whola!!! Ask your child to put the puzzle together.

Ball in the box

You will need an empty cardboard box and a few tennis balls.

Place the box on a flat surface.. keep a distance between the box and your child ask his to throw the ball into the box.

Balloon Badminton

You will need;

  • Blown up balloon

  • Paper plate

  • Popsicle stick

  • Glue

Paste the Popsicle stick on the back of the paper plate like a handle and let it dry. Use the balloon as a ball and play indoor badminton with one or two children.
